Because of You - Dawn French

 Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock . . . midnight.

The old millennium turns into the new.

In the same hospital, two very different women give birth to two very similar daughters.

Hope leaves with a beautiful baby girl.

Anna leaves with empty arms.

First of all I had to take a day or so to process this stunning novel because it is life--affirming.
It left me questioning how can I sympathise with both mothers, even though there is right and wrong?

It is heartbreaking, emotional but heartwarming at the same time with hints of Dawn's humour.
It explores the relationships of mothers-daughters, which as a mother of a daughter I could totally relate to these feelings and emotions which Dawn gets just so right!
The characters are so dimensional they are realistic and give you all the feels. Some you will like to hate others you will just love.

You will get lost in this read of grief, loss, love, forgiveness and but overall hope.

One of the best reads of 2020.
